Nerve Root Retractor

This project was done in collaboration with Dr. Charles Theofilos and Stefan Theofilos. Dr. Charles is a neurosurgeon who needed a tool to be designed to allow free access to the lumbar portion of the spine.

This patented surgical tool allows surgeons, specifically neurosurgeons and orthopedic spine surgeons, to steadily retract the spinal sac and nerve root that travel through the spinal canal. This gives them easier and safer access to the surgical target and allows them to work without damaging vital neural structures.

Octa Needle

This patented needle design is made for spine surgeons to inject stem cells into several parts of the spine all at once. The design involves 2 sets of needles with different purposes. 1 to get through bone and the other to spread across soft tissue. The needles are made from a mix of titanium and nickel giving it immense elasticity.
